Gipsy Kings to perform third concert in Tehran

The famous Gipsy Kings band will perform in Tehran for a third time on April 30 and May 2, at the country’s Ministry of the Interior Auditorium, according to the Financial Tribune.

The reformed Gipsy Kings Family, with the remaining original band members, as well as their children will perform in Tehran as part of an organised event by Exir Novin Advertising Agency and Persia Film Company.

The new band, Gipsy Kings Family, follows the same music genres of its predecessor which are salsa, western pop and pop flamenco with Latin rhythms.

The concerts are supported by the Music Centre of the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance and come as part of a policy of international cultural exchange.

They became popular with their self-titled third album, Gipsy Kings, which included the songs “Djobi Djoba”, “Bamboléo”, and the romantic ballad “Un Amor”. Gipsy Kings was famous throughout Europe and in Africa, as well as in Iran during the 1990s.

To buy tickets for the event, people can check out where tickets will range from IRR500,000 (€9.20) to IRR2.3mn (€42.50) per ticket.

If you are interested in The Gipsy Kings there are also plenty of other local musicians playing over the next few weeks. Also, Germany’s Schiller will be returning to Tehran in the next few weeks.
