Tehran Metro to offer free service on June 4
Tehran Metro Company will provide free service to passengers on Monday, June 4 on the death anniversary of the late Iranian Leader Ayatollah Khomeini.
Farnoosh Nobakht, the newly appointed managing director of Tehran Metro, said Tehrani passengers can use all lines of the subway on June 4 starting 5:30 am.
According to the official, from 15:00 pm to 20:00 pm on June 4, the interval between each train will be reduced from 7 to 4 minutes.
This is while the subway’s service on Laylat al-Qadr (Night of Destiny) which will be on Sunday night will be from 23:00 pm (June 3) to 5:30 am (June 4) with the intervals of 30 minutes between each train.
Laylat al-Qadr, also known as Shab-e-Qadr in Persian is an Islamic observance that marks the anniversary of the night Mohammad received the first verses of the Quran. In the Shia Islam, the 3 nights of 19th, 21st and 23rd of the month of Ramadan are observed as Laylat al-Qadr where many do prayers and read Quran.
