Karim Khan overpass gets long awaited overhaul

Karim Khan Zand Street’s overpass halfway between Haft e-Tir Square and Valisar Square will remain partially closed for the next week, according to the Tehran Municipality.

The bridge which allows drivers to cut out junctions north and south of the main boulevard has been partially closed for the past week after inspections deemed it needed major renovations.

According to the press release, the bridges panels, barriers and asphalt are all getting some TLC after heavy usage in recent years.

Accordingly, the east-to-west side of the bridge remains open after work was conducted during the Nowruz holidays.

Alternative routes both east and west are advised, with drivers now using alleyways in the IranShahr St below the bridge and the parallel streets above being used to avoid traffic.
