Tehran Municipality has announced it will no longer consider permits for shopping malls in most northern District 1 of the city, according to Islamic Republic News Agency, Financial Tribune cited on June 24.
If you haven’t seen, the most expensive district of the Iranian capital around Tajrish Square and its surrounding areas has seen several new large malls sprouting up in recent years. Although good for the consumer, these developments have been troublesome for commuters in the area which have seen added traffic.
“The mushrooming shopping malls in the recent past with no regard for social issues and demands of the locals of Shemiranat County have led to the problem of traffic congestions in the neighbourhood,” Habibollah Tajik-Esmaeili district mayor was quoted as saying.
Still, if you’re interested there are several fantastic malls in the area, including ARG and Palladium to name a few, you can check these out on our previous article, here!
