Latest Covid-19 Restrictions in Tehran

With the coronavirus infection cases and fatalities rising, authorities have launched a new set of nationwide restrictions to curb the spread of the deadly virus.

Based on the restrictions which have been implemented since November 21, the country has been divided into 3 different color-coded regions (red, orange, and yellow) based on the number of Covid-19 infections and hospitalizations.

Tehran is among the red categories, meaning that it is among the regions that have the highest number of infections. The restrictions imposed on this category includes closing all non-essential businesses while allowing government employees to work only by one-third of their staff.

Based on these measures, private firms linked with essential services will continue to operate.

According to announced plans, a nightly curfew imposed from 9 pm to 4 am is also implemented nationwide and any intra-city travel is banned during that time. A 10 million rials fine will be issued for those that violate this law.

If you have a license plate that is issued in other cities, make sure you don’t use it during this period as it will be subject to a fine.

The mandatory mask rule is still in place and will be implemented across the country.
