Famouri House, a Historic Place to Enjoy in Tehran!

From visiting tourist attractions to trying new foods and having a good time shopping, Tehran offers many things for its visitors to see and do. However, there are some places that offer all or some of these features together. The Famouri House is one such place, where visitors can view historical attractions while eating a delicious meal in a calm environment away from the bustle of nearby streets.

What is Famouri House?

It has been more than ten years since Famouri House opened its doors to visitors. Ms. Famouri, the owner of the property, had the building renovated in 2008, and later the property became a national monument thanks to her efforts. Among the old buildings still standing in Iran’s capital is this house dating back to the Qajar era. Famouri House has maintained its original structure and kept it safe from projects to reconstruct old buildings in a modern way over the past decades.

The house is located on Jomhouri Avenue, in the city center. After reaching Jomhouri, you should take Rome Street and then turn to Gashtasb Alley wherein the end Famouri House welcomes the visitors.

What to enjoy at Famouri House?

Since Jomhouri Avenue serves as a major hub for electronic equipment and cellphones in Tehran, Famouri House is seen by its visitors as a good place to escape the crowdedness and noise of Jomhouri Avenue. A two-story building with multiple rooms on each floor, featuring Qajar-style architecture, can make anyone feel calm and relaxed. In the heart of the yard, there’s a pool colored in blue and decorated by numerous flower vases, a very typical feature of old homes in Iran. Sets of tables and chairs are here and there in the yard to take.

There’s more to enjoy! Food with Iranian and foreign recipes along with different kinds of drinks are served, making it easy to choose a favorite meal. There can be galleries too, as the owner rents out the house to organizers to showcase their work.

How and when to go to Famouri House?

Except for Saturdays, Famouri House is open to visitors every day from 9 a.m. until 11 p.m. Anyone taking a bus to reach there should get off at Ala-Eddin station located 44 meters away from Famouri House. In case of going on the metro, you should get off at City Theater Station (ایستگاه تئاترشهر) that’s located some 900 meters away from this beautiful Iranian house.
