Hanna Boutique Hotel is a seven-room hotel in a renovated 1930s house on Lolagar dead end, off Neauphle-le-Château Street, near Hafez Avenue. It opened in 2018 and sits in one of the most interesting corners of old Tehran, the leafy embassy quarter.

The restoration kept the character of the building, and the ground floor runs as a restaurant and café that draws a local crowd. Breakfast is included, and the hotel can arrange airport transfers and valet parking. There is also a small meeting space.

The downtown museums and the bazaar are a short taxi ride away. Bookings are taken on Hostelworld, where the listing asks for payment in cash on arrival with cancellation up to three days before.

Paying: Foreign bank cards do not work in Iran, so bring enough euros or dollars in cash and change them at an exchange office or the hotel desk. Prices on Iranian booking sites are in rials or tomans and may differ from the rate a hotel quotes to foreign guests, so confirm the price in writing before you arrive.

With only seven rooms, the Hanna Boutique Hotel fills up quickly, so book well ahead if your dates are fixed. The hotel is a good choice for travellers who prefer character to facilities and want to spend their evenings in a neighbourhood rather than a hotel lobby. Recent guest reviews are on Tripadvisor. Bring cash, as the hotel cannot take foreign cards.
