The Espinas Palace Hotel is the largest of the Espinas group's Tehran properties: a 400-room five-star tower in Saadat Abad, in the city's north-west, that functions as much as a social venue as a hotel. Weddings, conferences and concerts in its Tehran Royal Hall keep the lobby busy well into the evening.

Facilities are the draw. There is a pool and sauna, a spa, a gym, a kids' club and a long list of places to eat and drink, including the Laton and Diba restaurants and the Sky Lounge on the upper floors, which is one of the better-known rooftop spots in the city. The hotel also runs airport transfers and has a currency exchange desk, which matters in a country where foreign cards are useless.

The trade-off is location. Saadat Abad is a comfortable, middle-class district with good restaurants and cafés, but it is a long way from the bazaar, the Golestan Palace and the museums downtown, and there is no metro line on the doorstep. Most guests rely on Snapp, the local ride-hailing app, or the hotel's own cars.

Bookings can be made directly on the Espinas website, which takes Iranian online payment, or through international sites such as Trip.com. Reservations can also be arranged by phone or WhatsApp.
