The Parsian Azadi Hotel is one of Tehran's big state-era five-stars, a 475-room tower rising beside the Chamran Expressway at the Yadegar-e Emam junction in the north-west of the city. It is a familiar name to business travellers, partly because Tehran's International Exhibition grounds are close by.

The facilities are what you would expect of a hotel of its size and age: a pool, a spa and gym, several restaurants, conference halls, a business centre and free parking. Airport transfers can be booked through the hotel.

The Azadi is best suited to people with business in the north-west or at the exhibition grounds. It is not a convenient base for sightseeing in the old city, and with expressways all around it is not a place for an evening stroll. Taxis or Snapp are the practical way to get about.

Rooms can be booked on Trip.com and on Iranian booking sites.

The Parsian Azadi Hotel was built as a Hyatt before the 1979 revolution and still has the scale of that era, with long corridors, big public rooms and wide views over the north of the city from the upper floors. Ask for a room facing the Alborz mountains. Recent guest reviews are on Tripadvisor.
