If you want to sleep within walking distance of the Grand Bazaar, the Golestan Palace and the national museums, the Ferdowsi Grand Hotel is one of the most practical choices. It stands on Kushk-e Mesri Street at the start of Ferdowsi Avenue, just north of Imam Khomeini Square, and was relaunched in its current form in 1990.

It is a four-star with about 220 rooms, an indoor pool, a gym, a restaurant, conference and banquet rooms and a business centre. There is a currency exchange in the hotel and Ferdowsi Avenue is home to many of the city's licensed exchange offices, which makes it easy to change cash. Airport transfers and free parking are available.

Imam Khomeini metro station, where Lines 1 and 2 meet, is close by, so the north of the city is reachable without the traffic. The area empties after the shops close, so most guests head north for dinner.
