A taste of Beirut: Eating at Aroos e-Lebanon
Aroos Lebanon on Beheshti St (Abas Abad area) is one of the finest examples of ‘real’ eastern Mediterranean food in the Iranian capital. The restaurant is in need of a refit, but that doesn’t detract from the delight of eating what the chefs make in the place.
The restaurant serves some of the most delightful dishes including Lebanese rice dishes as well as the staple of that country hummus. I love hummus, so it was a surprise to me that Iranians don’t rate the food.
What you will get
From the street, Aroos Lebanon is set back behind a green area, and the entrance is on the side street. The building has bright pink painted windows, so you are hardly going to miss the place.
When you arrive at the restaurant, you are likely to be bombarded by the waiters offering everything the cooks have freshly prepared, and be expected to have a four-course meal with dessert.
The mezze menu is quite large and all the food is prepared from orders you will be offered several fruit juices or sodas.
Then comes the kebabs, rice and schwama dishes, there are so many to mention that I will leave it up to you to choose which you like.
Following the main meals, you will be offered several types of sweets, including baklava made at the restaurant.
