Iran extends flight suspensions until July 11 afternoon
Iran’s Ministry of Roads and Urban Development has extended flight cancellations across northern, southern and western regions until 14:00 on July 2 whilst reopening central and semi-western airspace for international transit flights only, Donya-e-Eqtesad reported on July 2.
Ministry spokesman Majid Akhavan announced that following Civil Aviation Organisation coordination committee decisions and security assessments, central and semi-western Iranian airspace has been reopened exclusively for international transit operations.
Domestic and international flight cancellations affecting northern, southern and western areas, including Mehrabad and Imam Khomeini airports, remain in effect until 14:00 on July 11. The restrictions continue to impact regular passenger services from these regions.
Akhavan advised citizens to avoid visiting airports located in northern, southern and western regions and to monitor flight information solely through official sources. He emphasised that flights to and from the specified airports remain prohibited and urged passengers against purchasing tickets for these routes.
The status of remaining airports and flight zones across Iran continues under evaluation. Any operational changes affecting airports and flight routes will be announced through the Civil Aviation Organisation’s official website and recognised national media outlets.
